Fozzy
Fozzy. An American heavy metal band formed in San Antonio, Texas in 1999. The band is lead by professional wrestler Chris Jericho, along with the other members of the band that reside in Georgia. The original name of the band was Fozzy Osbourne, which of course was taken off Ozzy Osbourne, and was only a cover band, but they later changed the name, and began writing their own songs. Chris Jericho led a different persona known as McQueen, which was later dropped. They have five albums including Chasing the Grail which was released in January of 2010. With five albums, and multiple singles, Chris Jericho, both in the ring, and out, has made a name for himself in both sports entertainment, along with musical entertainment.
Iggy and the Stooges
Also known as, The Stooges, Iggy and the Stooges are a rock band from Ann Arbor, Michigan. They were first active from 1967-1974, and then reformed in 2003. This band hasn't sold many records, but are honored with being known as the band that started the punk rock era. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. Though the span of years this band has been known is large, they have only released for albums to date, the last one being in 2007. Through the break-up ages, Iggy acheived solo success as well. The band has influenced many great musicians such as, Kurt Cobain, Jack White, The Sex Pistols, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Not every band has to release multiple albums to become one of the most influential rock groups of all time.

In My Mind, Blogs For Bands: Week 11
Dir En Gray
Based out of Osaka, Japan, Dir En Grey is classified as many genres, the main one being metal. The band itself has gone through many changes, making their genre nearly impossible to classify. As of 2008, they have seven studio albums, with the same band lineup as they began with. If you watch the video, obviously they're a very visual band. Through attire, videos, and their music. They've toured in many countries, and is one of the few worldwide bands to do so without having to learn the native tongue. In the United States, they've earned their fans through their music, without having to say any English whatsoever. An impressive band to say the least, and if you're a fan of odd insanity, Dir En Grey is a band to listen to.
The Sword
The Sword, a metal band from Austin, Texas. They formed in 2003, and released their debut album in 2006. Their second album was released in '08, and gave them their first experience of chart success. Their third album was released in 2010. Even though they aren't on a major label, or even have major chart success, they've toured with high level bands like Metallica, and Lamb of God on several occasions. Needless to say, this band is well on their way to being well known in the music universe.

Glenn Miller Orchestra
The Glenn Miller Orchestra, formed in 1937, performs big band and jazz music. Obviously formed by Glenn Miller, the orchestra started out fairly small. Miller had started an orchestra similar to this in earlier years, but it soon dismembered for being to alike to the other bands of the day. Not only did his new orchestra become more popular with society, but also on the music charts. They released several songs that had great recognition. Miller disappeared in 1944, and to this day no one knows exactly what happened to him. In 1956, they regrouped without their leader, and Hollywood contributed to their "immortality" releasing a film on the band, which also won the number one soundtrack award. To this day the band is still touring worldwide.
Beastie Boys
The Beastie Boys, are an American hip hop group based out of Brooklyn, New York. They began as a hardcore punk band in 1979 debuting on a New York Thrash, then went on to record the EP Beastie Groove. They achieved local success before releasing Licensed To Ill in 1986. This album achieved great success, and got their name around the globe. They are one of the longest going hip hop groups still around, and still get commercial success more than twenty years after the release of their debut. On September 27, 2007, they were nominated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They've released seven albums, have another upcoming, and as of 2010 have sold over 40 million albums worldwide.

In My MInd, Blogs For Bands: Week 9
Ray Noble
Raymond Stanley Noble. Born December 17, 1903, and died April 3, 1978. Master of the genre of Jazz, and originating in Brighton, England, Ray Noble became one of the most influential bandleaders, composers, arrangers, and even actors of his time. Ray Noble studied music at the Royal Academy of Music, and became the leader of the HMV Records studio band in 1929. The band featured many of the top hotel orchestra members in that time. Noble's most notable vocalist was Mr. Al Bowlly. Together they achieved fame throughout the United States. They also had many number one hits across the U.S. music charts in the 1930's, some of which stayed number one for an incredible seven weeks. Sadly, on April 3, 1978, Noble past away, and ended an era of great music.
Styx
Styx. Based out of Chicago, Illinois, has become a very influential rock band, which achieved fame in the late 70's to the early 80's. This Chicago rock band is known for their fantastic ability of being able to meld together several different genre's of music into one terrific song. The band has multiple singles, and a striking four consecutive albums which gained the privilege of being certified multi-platinum by the RIAA. The band has split many times, and every time has reunited. Today they are touring constantly, and adding more fans than ever before. They have 15 studio albums, and everyone of them is known for it's uniqueness. Styx is a great rock band, and they have all but lost their ability to entertain.

In My Mind, Blogs For Bands: Week 8
Blink-182
Blink-182. Popular? Yes. However, post break-up, blink-182's hold on people's attention has begun to deteriorate. With 25 million albums sold world-wide, this punk band has nearly become a household name. Formed in the early 90's in San Diego, California, blink-182 has released only five albums, one of which accomplished a multi-platinum achievement. Their mainstream success was from 1999-2004, after that it began to go downhill. The band's break-up shocked millions of fans across the globe, in which we thought it was the end of them. However, in 2009, the band reformed to do a tour. After the huge success, they decided to write a new album, which there is hardly any information about, to this point. Blink-182, will this be the last album? Last string of tours? Or will they carry on like the years before? Only time will tell if this band will be around within the next few years.
The Whigs
THE WHIGS. A garage band, from Athens, Georgia. Forming in 2002, and releasing 3 studio albums. This trio hasn't had the "big break" yet; however, they have toured with a few great bands, and are well on their way. Bands such as The Kooks, and Kings of Leon. Listen to the song above. Like what you hear? Give these guys a chance. They define their genre as "garage rock revival", and needless to say, this trio has a lot to offer those of us entranced by music.

In My Mind, Blogs for Bands: Week 7
Rob Zombie, and Alice Cooper's Halloween Hootenanny
THE MOST SHOCKING DOUBLE-DATE OF YOUR LIFE!
Taking a break from my usual posting, to post about something spectacular, The Halloween Hootenanny featuring Rob Zombie, and Alice Cooper. One of the most incredible shows you will ever see. Also known as The Gruesome Twosome, Cooper, and Zombie did a tour together earlier this year as well. Both bands are known for their amazing stage shows, and their ability to capture the audiences attention against all odds. Feeling the flames burn your face, feeling the thumps of the ground beneath you, watching the greatest show of all time, what's not to love? Zombie, and Cooper finally together on one stage. Seeing the spectale for myself was an amazing experience, and truly a dream come true, I highly suggest going to see it yourself.
Rob Zombie
Rob Zombie, film director, musician, screenwriter, and film producer. Founding heavy metal band White Zombie, as well as his solo work, has been the lead vocals in eight studio albums, as well as doing tracks with various other bands. Not only has he became one of the most influencial musicians known to man, but also an influential director as well. Producing films such as House of 1000 Corpses, The Devils Rejects, Halloween, and the sequel, The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, and upcoming Lords of Salem. Rob Zombie is forty-five, and still has the energy he had in the days of White Zombie. Anything he touches turns to gold, and needless to say, his future is very bright.
Alice Cooper
Alice Cooper, a true founder of Shock Rock, as well as a rock pioneer. His career has spans more than four decades, he has seven albums with the Alice Cooper group, and eighteen albums of his own, along with an album due out in 2011. He loves golf, he's a reborn Christian, he has a massive influence on rock music, and fans all over the world. If someone were to tell a story including all the high points in his life, they would be talking for days. It never ends. He's a true legend, and he's not done. Still touring, still writing, and never giving up. In VH1's 100 Greatest artists of Hard Rock, Cooper was rated number twenty.

In My Mind, Blogs For Bands: Week 6
H.I.M.
H.I.M., like The 69 Eyes, are also a Finnish band formed in Helsinki, Finland. Why are there so many great bands that come out of Finland? Formed in 1991, they've released seven studio albums, three EP's, have several singles, along with DVD's. I'm well aware of Bam Margera (once again), and his love for the band; therefore, every MTV watcher decides they love them as well. No, you don't. I'm sick of people only knowing Rip Out the Wings of a Butterfly, Killing Loneliness, etc. Their popular songs. It's extremely annoying considering these guys are one of the best bands I've ever heard. The popular songs, are off the album Dark Light, which is the first album from a Finnish band that went gold in America. I tried to find an older video of the band to show you. They've been classified as many genres, and finally Ville Valo (lead vocalist) told the press, Love Metal. This Finnish band has accomplished more than most American bands, and their brilliance in writing is extraordinary. I strongly encourage listening to this Finnish band, and no, not just the popular songs.
The Moody Blues
The Moody Blues, based out of Birmingham, England, have been active since 1964, and are still going strong. They've sold around 70 million albums worldwide, and have been awarded 14 platinum, and gold discs. They have an amazing, sixteen albums, the latest was released in 2003. They still have the energy they had back in the sixtee's, which is more then you can say for most bands that are trying to push forward from that time period. The video above is probably their most notable song, Nights in White Satin. If you haven't heard it before, listen to it.
